Best Time to Visit
December to April brings dry, sunny days and the island at its liveliest. May–June and November offer quieter beaches and lower rates with brief warm showers. Avoid peak hurricane months (Aug–Oct) if you can.
Currency & Tipping
US dollars are widely accepted across tourist areas; Jamaican dollars are better for local spots. Tip guides 10–15%, drivers $1–2 per bag, and villa staff $5–10 per guest per stay as a thank-you.
Getting Around
Private drivers are the comfortable standard — we arrange every transfer. Driving yourself is possible but roads are winding and left-hand. For short hops, route taxis are an adventure of their own.
Health & Safety
Drink bottled or filtered water. Reef-safe sunscreen protects the coral. Use insect repellent at dusk. Stick to arranged transport after dark and keep valuables in the villa safe.
Local Etiquette
A warm greeting goes far — a friendly 'Good morning' before any request is the Jamaican way. Haggling at markets is expected; do it with a smile. Respect Sunday quiet in residential areas.
